A Sunday in Worthington (June 22)

We started our Sunday with a sort of mad dash to get out of the house, truthfully. Any day when we're trying to hurry up to get somewhere is like that for us, and our tensions get a little high. It's sad, really, but it's the way things are. However, the rest of our day was just wonderful :) We made it down to Worthington around 9am and for good reason: Mark and I decided to have a breakfast date instead of a dinner date.

We figured we usually are up early anyway, why not? So while we had initially planned on getting to town around 8am and having an hour and a half or so to unwind and have a nice relaxing breakfast at Perkins, our rushing around to make sure we had everything we needed for a day at home turned into a quick 20 minute breakfast at McDonald's followed by a short errand. But really, such is life :)

We went to pick up the boys and head to church, where Kendrick proceeded to scream his poor little head off and Cashel clung to me like a wet towel, so I spent a good chunk of the service trying to keep them occupied without making too much noise. But once again, such is life with two little ones.

After church, we joined Dad, Pam, Jess, Tyler and Grandma Vi for lunch at Arby's, which went about like this:

The boys were mostly good, but super loud (and smiley, and squeal-y, and super tired), and they both passed out on the way over to Kent and Pam's via a short trip around Lake Okabena.

Mark and I got the boys situated in beds, but then Kendrick woke up almost immediately, and then him being crazy woke up Cashel, and well...let's just say that naps aren't generally part of the plan when we go to Worthington: We usually either go after nap times, or we just envision what our day will be like when they don't get them.

But I digress :)

Mark and I stole away for a few moments to just hang out and shop a bit. We hit Peeble's and ShopKo, but then headed back to the house to pick up Cashel for a fun night at the Circus.

Cashel's face, I kid you not, was glued like this the entire time. He was so enamored with everything. He had a similar face when riding in the combine with Grandpa Kent last fall, and whenever he sees something amazing. It's endearing :)

His absolute favorite part of the show were the running camels, so we decided at the intermission to treat him to a ride on a camel. He was REALLY not very sure about it, but the worker just put him on and strapped him in and sent him off, so he didn't have much time to react. It's probably a good thing because he actually made it two times around on the thing.

Cashel and I also took a ride on the elephant.

Cashel couldn't stop talking about the camel and elephant for days afterward.

We left halfway through just because it was already getting late, and we still had to get back to the house to pick up Kendrick and get the boys loaded up and to bed.

It was a fun afternoon in Worthington, but oh man were the boys tough to get down that night. Cashel just LOVED the circus, though, and we are so glad we took him. It was fun to have a little time with just him that we could focus on him by himself, and I think he enjoyed that too. :)
