May 2012 Recap

In a Nutshell...
We stayed fairly busy during the month of May. It was a warmer May than usual, with such a mild winter preceding it, and we had lots of allergies to combat and Cashel was still fighting off a cold, but we made it through! We started out the month with a baby shower for our friends' baby girl and some fun time with friends afterwards. The second weekend we visited with Mark's cousin and his wife on that Saturday, and had a VERY busy Sunday following that with Cashel's baby dedication at church and Mother's Day. We took a bit of a break after that, then had some professional pictures taken before heading down to Humboldt for Memorial Day weekend. All-in-all, a busy, but good month for us :) We're still adjusting to this parenting thing, but Cashel is doing great, and apparently we haven't ruined him yet :)

Baby Shower for Madelyn (May 4)
Aiwen, Kristina and I threw Nancy and Madelyn a baby shower the first Friday evening in May at the Worthington Pizza Ranch.

Memorial Day Weekend in Humboldt (May 25-28)

Friday, May 25
Photo Shoot and Lunch in Waseca
We started out the holiday weekend with a fun photo session with Jen at Jennifer Nace Photography in Waseca, followed by lunch as well. I wrote a whole blog post about that, so I won't go on, but we had a really nice day :)

Evening in Humboldt
We grilled for dinner, then had a nice time visiting that evening with everyone, although we didn't do too much beyond that :)

Josh, Tiff and the boys came out for dinner and visiting. I am having a hard time getting enough of these sweet little faces lately :)

It was a truly beautiful weekend, and we spent a fair amount of time hanging out outside.

There is absolutely never a dull moment when we go home to visit Mom and Amanda and the family in Iowa.

Cashel was able to get his first experience in the jumperoo, and while at first he wasn't quite too sure what to think, that didn't last long, and he was going nuts in it! It is now one of his favorite things to do in the evenings at home.

But like I said before...mainly we just visited and hung out together :)

Saturday, May 26
We spent a fair amount of the day outside on Saturday, as it was nice and warm.

Reign wanted to take a ride too, so he hopped in Kaleigh's Barbie car lol

Caleb is in bike-riding training with some cool dude training wheels and a helmet.

Reign was so enamored by Grandpa Lance's tractor :)

Sadly, this was one of the last encounters we've had with Frasier, as he ran away shortly after and we've yet to find him :(

Jason was a gem and mowed the lawn :)

Our little family :)

My little sister's little family :)

For those of you who hear me talk about "the farm" in Iowa a lot, but are curious as to what exactly it looks like, here it is :)

The evening rolled around quickly, and before long, we were all cozy in the house visiting in the living room :)

Sunday, May 27
Sunday after church, we enjoyed some yummy lunch. It wasn't long before Caleb was begging to blow up some water balloons with Daddy :)

Kaleigh Mae wanted to visit right up next to Cashel on the activity mat...

...while Jason and Mom played a little UpWords.

We decided to head home late that evening so that we could get a good, full day in and get our routine back before a busy week ahead. Little did we know, we'd be returning just 2 weeks later, so it was probably a good idea to not overstay our welcome :)

Monday, May 28
Back on the 26th, our little man turned 4 months old, so after a lazy morning around the house, we took some onesie pics with his 4-month tie sticker :)

But honestly, most of the day we were just bums, which was more than alright by us! After the hectic way we had crammed in the car and jetted out of the house on Friday morning, we were ready for some R&R! It was a wonderful weekend away, though, and we always enjoy our time with the Ropte family :)

Pictures in Waseca (May 25)

After much debate, we decided to splurge a bit and have pictures taken as a family while Cashel is still a wee one :) We decided to go with Jennifer Nace in Waseca for the pictures, and we're so glad we did! She did a phenomenal job!

Here is a slideshow sneak peek (which will only be available until June 27, unfortunatley):

We started the day out pretty early and were on the road by 8am to make it to her studio by 10am. It was crazy trying to get out the door, since we were also packing for a long weekend down in Humboldt afterwards, but we made it, didn't strangle each other, and Cashel did great on the long drive.

We spent about 2 hours at the studio, then found some lunch at a yummy Mexican place in Waseca.

Cashel was a trooper and slept through the entire lunch!

Afterwards, we made a short stop at Walmart in Albert Lea before making our way on down to Humboldt.

It was such a nice day to have off work and to enjoy at a leisurely pace with our little family :) I sure do love my boys! :)
