Lately in Windom (March 2017)

I feel like March has been a whole lot of nothing with some spurts of excitement lately.
I LOVE watching my boys create. We don't do this enough anymore these days.

Cashel's hand continues to look better each day. Really hoping for a full recovery over time and that it won't show by this time next year!

Kendrick loves to play the matching game, but he doesn't tend to have the patience to FINISH the game ever.

My co-worker's aunt makes these, and I am not ashamed to admit that I ate them for breakfast (and lunch) two days in a row. Perhaps a contributing factor in my 2lb gain in a week?

Cutting the third nap is rough :(

The big boys have been thoroughly enjoying the tent Cashel bought with his birthday money from Grandma Ruth.

At 18 weeks pregnant, I'm already just barely seeing the tips of my toes while walking. Oy!

This little turd likes to goof around when I want to take his picture anymore.

In the waiting room before the big anatomy scan!

Post anatomy scan and shopping date with friends!

A tinge of pink eye hit our house. I'd be okay with not having to deal with that ever again, but we were fortunate that it was all just a mild case.

Ryan's 0-6 month book is here! His 6-12 month book is mostly done, just waiting for his 1 year pics back so I can add those into it as well.

Pre-Preschool orientation looks good on this big boy!

I asked Mark the other day, "Am I ever going to not look like an old person again?" He said, "Maybe when you start actually sleeping again regularly and stop having babies?" lol I'm hoping I am able to bounce back by my 40s. It's possible, right?

This little stinker is EVERYWHERE now, and he's moving fast. I think I had to get no less than 25 times in my 15 minute wait in the waiting room with him. This is the face he makes when I call say "Ryan Charles" in that "you're in trouble" kind of voice. He turns, looks at me like this, squeals and then keeps on going. It's going to be an interesting planting season, no?

Cashel seriously adores his little brother. When we talk about the new baby and ask him what we should name his new brother or sister, half of the time he says "Ryan Charles" and the other half he says "cute baby" lol

We had a spirited crew to celebrate Ryan's 1st birthday, even if we had to cancel the big party due to a snowstorm :(

Just in case any of you think that it's all puppies and rainbows around here. These two fight CONSTANTLY. We're always pulling them apart. Last week, Kendrick whacked Cashel in the lower lip with a freaking wooden hammer he found somewhere downstairs (We have hidden them so that when we eventually sell the toy set it came with, it'll have all its parts and the new owners can learn that they'll have to hide them too) and gave him a bloody lip. I'm still shocked we've spent only one minor visit to the E.R. so far. They're going to give me a heart attack!

I'm fairly certain pictures don't convey the noise level at our house on any given day either. This tractor in particular makes SO MUCH NOISE on our hard wood floors. Enough to drive me crazy some days!

Just like that, our littlest guy turns 1!

Yay for Ryan!

Funny story: My mother-in-law was just flabergasted that babies now get to ruin an entire cake just for turning 1! She thought I bought this and spent a small fortune. She settled down a bit when I told her it cost me about $2 and I made it myself.

And just like that, Kendrick starts school! He's just in a prep program right now once a week for six weeks, but will start the 3 year program this coming fall.

Apparently the key to being able to get rid of large, bulky toys like this is to give them away for free. I actually got them all at garage sales, so I was hardly out anything, but wanted them GONE! 15 minutes later, a guy showed up and loaded them into his car and drove away. Sweet freedom!

This is for those of you who think I "do it all" and "balance work and home life" well. Haha. I usually choose to have my kitchen clean OR my living room OR laundry done OR the kids' bedrooms picked up. Never all at the same time, and many times it's none of the above. This was a mild case.

One straw is just never enough.

This is how I deal with extra birthday cupcakes just laying around the house.

Most nights, we can hardly get these kids to clear their plates. This particular night, Kendrick was working on his THIRD helping of skillet lasagna, and he asked for a fourth. Ummmm....

Aunt Jess brought out the big guns!

It probably gets on his nerves a lot, but Daddy is the go-to guy when it comes to getting shoes on in our house. Especially while pregnant, I tend to dawdle a little more (hello, 4th trip to the bathroom in the course of an hour), so he does a great job of getting the kids ready and into their carseats when we're going places.

He also almost always picks me up as close to the door at work as he can get. Our co-workers give me crap that I've hired a chauffeur service haha

My kids are so weird sometimes lol

Seriously.

This guy LOVES him some spaghetti. Spaghetti night is ALWAYS bath night around here.

SO ready for these gym nights to be over. We needed to keep moving this winter, so we joined for 3 months,
but I'm not in love with the gym we're at right now, and just want to go out for a long walk. It'd be one thing if I was just KILLING it at the gym, but truth be told, I'm just walking slowly on a treadmill or elliptical, and it's not like I'm able to lose weight right now, so it just seems boring.

My little guy's 1 year pictures turned out SO GREAT! Once again, Heather at Red Barn Photography outdid herself!

This guy is big time into apples lately. I usually buy 5 or 6 a week, assuming we'll each have one at some point, but he'll grab one every day and eat them all himself.

He BADLY wanted an apple as well. His crying face just makes me smile - SO dramatic at this age lol

We happened to catch the Wizard of Oz on one night, and the boys were totally enthralled!

This kid is always either drooling or spitting out milk or water or what not. It's impossible to keep his little mouth clean and dry, and thus: contact dermatitis. It's finally starting to clear up.

We made the switch during the days to a sippy cup, and he's getting the hang of it. He loves to get the water out, and then stick his tongue out lol

He's such a happy little dude ;)

Kendrick is a little obsessed with this Vikings jersey. He is just a hot body in general like his Daddy, and even in 50 degree temps, he'll fight you tooth and nail to put his jacket on when he goes outside. He likes to wear t-shirts at all times. The jersey is apparently where it's at because it is so breathable.

Post bath time snuggles! On another note, one of the weird symptoms my last two pregnancies has been this spot on my forehead that starts protruding. I don't even recall how far it went down after I had Ryan,
but it's back again. I hate it! lol

These baby wearing days are going to be coming to an end pretty soon, I think. I made it one lap around the block with him in there, then had to drop him off at home with Daddy so I could get another lap in.
Lugging 25lbs on a walk while 22 weeks pregnant is no joke!

Ryan's First Birthday (March 12)

Our baby is now a year old, and although he has been toddling for a month or so now, is officially, by all definitions, a "toddler". Life is about to get busier than we thought imaginable at this point, I think.

To celebrate, we planned a fun choo choo birthday party for him that we ended up having to cancel the day of due to getting a foot of snow and winter weather advisory unexpectedly :( We didn't let that ruin our party, though, and still had fun celebrating together, and having Grandma Diane over for a smallish party just us.

The house was mostly all clean, so that was a nice start to the day! His birthday fell on a Sunday, so we took the opportunity to get a fun picture of all the boys together to start the day. I'm so glad they love to cooperate and look at the camera with big smiles lol

Once we officially decided to cancel the party, we let Ryan (or rather, his big brothers) open his birthday presents.

Poor Ryan hardly got to play with his presents for quite some time, as big brothers were knock-down-drag-out-fighting over it.

I was a little bummed at first about the party being called off, but then decided that there was no reason I couldn't still set up all the decorations and still have just as fun a party with just our little group, so I decorated :)

I was feeling a little guilty at first, but then looking out at how much snow we had gotten in the course of about 2 hours made me feel a little better.

Mark ran to the store to pick up a few last-minute things and picked his Mom up and brought her over to the house for supper and cake.

The poor sweet little birthday boy was SO tired by the time it was cake smash time, and he didn't really seem altogether too interested in the cake - he was mostly ready to just get out of his high chair. He did manage to rally just a tinge, but overall, he just wasn't in the mood for cake.

It's a tie for me between the sheer victory pose from above and this one below. It so perfectly sums up this little trio of ours lol Poor Ryan is just all like "not again!" ::headdesk:: and big brothers are all "Let's get this party started!"

That was about as messy as he got before we called in the reinforcements. I think it about gave my mother-in-law a panic attack watching that pretty little cake get smashed to smitherines lol (I told her I only spent about $2 to make it and made it and decorated it myself and she seemed slightly less aghast) Ryan thought it was hilarious to see big brothers demolishing his cake.

And then, it was just time to be done.

For a cancelled party, it really turned into a fun time. In fact, in the future, I kinda see a lot more parties like this happening instead of the type you have to send invites for. It's just so much less stress and so much less preparation. And no one cares if you didn't get the stairway swept or front closet cleared out.
