Wedding plans are coming along slowly but surely. We went over our budget the other day, and MAN are these things expensive! I got this book shortly after we got engaged called "How to plan a wedding for $5,000" or something along those lines. Somehow, even though I've followed the guidelines from the book, this baby is gonna be WAY more than their $5,000...but I suppose that considering the average wedding in the United States is around $20,000, we're still doing pretty good!
Mark and I have been busy seeing family lately, and trying to make time for ourselves as well. We were down in Humboldt visiting my family over Easter break. My brother and sister-in-law from Indiana were even able to make it out with my little nephew Jacob! It was the first time I got to see him, so I was pretty excited about that! What a GOOD baby! We then came back up north to have dinner on Easter Sunday with some family on his dad's side in Storedon. All in all, a pretty good weekend!
The weekend after that (April 21-23) I was down in Des Moines/Ankeny, Iowa visiting some friends from High School as well as one of my bridesmaids, Steff. I can tell we've all grown up a lot in the past couple years! Instead of going out dancing or being crazy kids, it was more subdued: Friday night was dinner, the coffee shop and looking at cool houses; Saturday was a little shopping, dinner, going for a RUN(???), and hitting the hot tub. Granted, Steff and I DID stay up until the wee hours of the morning talking and watching chick flicks like college days :)
I went up to Worthington to see Mark for the afternoon that Sunday and we had a good time with a "picnic" subway lunch at the park and then we took a walk and a nap at Grandma Vi's. Mark surprised me that weekend and moved his mom to her house across town. She's been living at Mark's house for the past couple years trying to save some money. Its been nice to be able to start cleaning and situating things at my future home now. It was hard to really see how things would look and feel when she was living there.
It seems like I've been just planning away for this wedding, but no matter how much I get accomplished, I can't escape the constant questions that make me feel "ill-prepared" to say the least. Once I figured out catering and the photographer, people feel obligated to ask me about the cake. When I already have the invitations and have had my first dress fitting, I get questions about music or the order of the ceremony. I know deep down that everyone just cares and is interested in what's going on in my life, but I'll tell ya - I'm definitely glad I didn't become a wedding planner! :) But anyway, I've updated the wedding details on the wedding portion of the website, so check it out!
