Ever since I can remember, there have always been Easter treats of some kind lined up on this piano.

The key to getting your kids dressed on holidays is to tell them they can't do the fun thing until they do the unfun thing. (i.e. family Christmas picture in the morning before opening presents, get dressed before doing the Easter egg hunt, etc.) Also...this kid! Look at how LONG those legs are!!

I actually 1000% did not stage this photo. They all congregated together right there.

This, however...this is staged lol

Gotta count your candy!

Don't even ask me how this unicorn photo managed to slip in there. They.are.all.looking. What?! As an aside, don't you just LOVE that new carpet? It brightens up the whole room! Granted, we still need to get the trim back up.

Easter food this year was on point! Every single tiny little bit of it was out of this world!

Seriously. SO.YUMMY!

They just keep on growing!

Gotta get a picture with the hubby :)

We took the boys on a "bunny hunt". This was actually deer poop, but I convinced them it was actually bunny poop, and that the Easter bunny must be near by.

Mark's cousin Drew was in the area on a trip out from Oregon! We lunched with him at River City Eatery!

Never again will I buy the super extra big jar of pickles at the store ::sigh::

Our date nights are good, but short usually. I'm looking forward to the nicer weather, because most of the time, all Mark has any desire to do is go eat and then go home and go to bed. I want to sneak in a nice walk too at some point, but for now, it's just not really happening. So...if I don't want to go home right away after we eat, I take him out for a blizzard, or to run an unnecessary errand, like picking up lettuce at the store or something. He does NOT do well when he thinks you are stalling, so you have to have a legitimate errand to run. Driving around is just absolutely not a thing anymore.

Cashel had a solo overnight at Grandpa and Grandma's house, so we had a slumber party in Kinsley's room haha :)

One thing I really enjoy is seeing what strengths my kids have. Cashel is more like me in that he's moderately good at a variety of things, but I can definitely see Kendrick being some sort of artist of big things, like murals or something. He is such an articulate colorer, and he's a leftie like his Uncle Josh, so he has that creativity pouring through his body. He could also be a professional breakdancer too, because he has that down. Ryan, however, is much more into throwing balls. That kid is going to be a QB or baseball player, I have this feeling. Not to knock big brothers, but the kid can not only throw a ball, but he has precision too, and he can throw it further and more accurately than either of his big brothers...at age 2.

I've been doing this healthy living program sponsored by my job. It's called Omada. The big thing it's trying to accomplish is to get you to make minor changes in your lifestyle to start you on the path to health and wellness. I've gone from sugary, berry-filled smoothies to start my day to savory stuff like this, packed with nutrients and very few sugars. This is my favorite of all favorites! It's a concoction I came up with when I had made pancakes one morning and by the time I got done making them, there were none left for me. So...I was just going to have a piece of toast with strawberry-rhubarb jam on it, but then threw an egg on there. And then I realized I should have a piece of swiss cheese. And then since the pan was already hot, I opted to sautee up some spinach that was on the verge of going bad, so I tossed it in with a little garlic. And then piled it all on top. Oh.My.Goodness was it ever delicious! I've made it numerous times since then.

When the kids are all a hot mess and you can't get outside with them because there's too much snow and it's too deep to traipse through, and you have two babies, and neither of them are terribly fond of snow...you pile them in the minivan to go for a ride while watching a movie...and get a small turtle macchiato from McDonald's for yourself.

These guys have known Mark for longer than I have. They've been his best buddies for many, many years.
Life gets in the way, and makes it tough to all catch up, but we made it happen! The guys all went out to eat with Mark (which, considering my experiences with him are interesting, I'm sure theirs was more than they let on to haha), while the ladies and kids stayed back and grabbed a couple pizzas at the house. It was such a great time!

It just hit me when looking at this photo how much all of our lives have changed in the past handful of years. Our table is so full of babies that even with TWO leaves in the table, there isn't enough room for the adults to sit at it. What a huge blessing these people are!

It's getting harder and harder to get them all to sit for a picture. lol

You just don't dare get down on the floor with these kiddos.

This kid may be rough and tumble, but he's got a soft spot for his Mama...whenever he doesn't "hate you, Mommy" and threaten to never play with me again because I took some privilege away or told him he couldn't have snacks. (We're working on it!) I love him so! On another note, however, this is the one kid who has an uncanny ability to find the ONE shirt in his entire closet that doesn't fit and then insist on wearing it. Well...he and his Daddy now.

With a house full of boys, I never know what kind of night it's going to be. Fun fact about me: I'm really not overly fond of leftovers. I don't hate them, but when I have a fridge full of leftovers, I feel a little angsty. I like freshly made meals. So...sometimes I prepare just the bare minimum of what I think everyone will eat. It seems to be those days when everyone suddenly decides to actually eat all their supper. So...sometimes I'm left with just day old coke from Hardee's and a pot of cauliflower for supper, being too tired to put together anything else haha

So...I very recently hired a helper in the evening to get the kids wound down and to bed at night. She starts May 12th. This would be why I needed a helper. I love my kids so dearly, but this is what it's like trying to get them to bed every.single.night. No one can focus and settle down and pay attention. usually it's just one or two of the kids causing the ruckus (namely, Kendrick or Ryan), but it drives me absolutely batty that I can't just sit down and read books with the ones who ARE paying attention, because they won't focus or settle down, and I get all uppity and frustrated, and our nights just end poorly with me yelling, "Fine! If you won't listen to the books, then you can just go to bed." And then there is great weeping and gnashing of teeth. We need more routine than that, and it's just not easy to enforce with only one of me, and a baby who wants to go to sleep and is fussy (who I am working on getting to take a bottle before bed, but only wants to nurse), and a toddler who is past his bedtime, and it's just...it's wearing on me. Also, though, if you have any suggestions for wrangling a whole bunch of wild animals at bedtime, I'll take those suggestions too! We've tried the separating the big kids to do quiet things, and that hasn't been very successful.

SOOOOO many people have been asking what they can do to help us out. Well...aside from the major bedtime struggles with the kids, we DO have a few household projects that need attention. They just would take more of a skillset than the average guy would have (and tools). One of those projects was this drain.
When our house was built back in 1997, the contractor did a horrible job of leveling the cement near the door in our garage, and as such, it has been RUINING the wall between our garage and entryway due to enormous piles of built up excess water runoff from the van, and also now, the door. So...we had a contractor buddy of ours come and install this drain. Next up will be replacing the drywall both on the outside and inside, and then we'll have to replace the door as well. This drain has already been such a HUGE thing for us! It's so nice to finally be able to walk out our door and not step right into an enormous puddle on these sopping wet days with tons of snow! This has been about 15 years in the making, so I'm pretty giddy about it!

We have a butter problem with Mr. Ryan. The kid would gladly eat a stick of butter for a meal. I had these set out on the counter to make cookies with, and they disappeared. I found them here lol

When Kendrick wants to focus, the kid can. Look at how good he colors!

Silly selfies is a mainstay at our house lol

She is just the greatest joy!

So is this guy, although he's getting more and more opinionated and mouthy, and we're working on a slapping problem lately.

I fear the city is going to impose a limit on how much junk can go on the curb this year after what we're about to inundate the curb with. And that's AFTER I took an entire load out to the dump on New Years' Day. #ReplaceAllTheFurniture #AnyoneWantABrokenCouch #OrAKingSizeUrineStainedMattress

I really am trying my very, very hardest to soak this in, but truthfully, most nights I just feel stuck. I can't engage with them, I can't fall asleep (as I have yet to even shower, much less clean up supper dishes), and some nights it takes an HOUR of snuggle time to get them all asleep and not following me around. It'd be cute once in a while, but it's frustrating to have so much that needs to be done every night, and end up getting stuck here for hours letting the kids go to bed. I was very hopeful that after the bunk beds arrived, Kendrick and Ryan will opt to sleep together in the big boys' room so that it can just be myself and Kinsley in there instead. But...it's not going so well. Some unicorn nights, Ryan will go down in his new room in his new bed, but that maybe happens 2-3 times a week. Kendrick has been fighting sleeping in the bunk beds too.

This study has been one of the very, very, very best ones I've done through this season of my life.
It has been so good that I have dragged it out slowly over the past four months, NOT because I have been lazy about it, but because I like to pepper it in on those mornings when I'm feeling lower or down or overwhelmed by my circumstances. Although it's hard to believe, those mornings have been fewer and further between than they were four months ago. They still do creep up from time to time. However...I am so much more grounded as a result of this study and a few others I've been working on during the past 6-8 months.
God's promises to me are EVERYTHING.

So....I'm working on weaning Kinsley, and so far, it it's really up and down. It's hard, because I hate to hear her fuss and cry, and sometimes scream when I know she's hungry, but she refuses to even consider the bottle. Somehow I managed to get her to take 4oz one particular night in the middle of the month, followed by about 4 days of rejection, then about a bottle a day, then rejection again, then 2 bottles a day, then rejection again. A lot of the time, it's usually about 20-25 minutes of me trying to get her to take the bottle unsuccessfully followed by her nursing for 5 minutes and passing out, content. It's hard on my heart to be done with the nursing, but I booked myself a solo vacation a couple weeks from now, and I REALLY don't want to be married to my pump while I'm on it. It wouldn't be the end of the world, but still...

Let's just say I am NOT impressed with the way the first 2/3 of April went weather-wise.

This little lady is an EATER! Oh praise Jesus! I finally got one! My boys were just messy and didn't want to eat any of the food and it drove me nuts. She devours it! Her favorites are ground pork lettuce wrap meat, shredded cheese, spaghetti, any sort of loose meat (taco meat, sloppy joe's, etc.), mandarin oranges, chopped up grapes, and random crap she finds on the ground. Let's say the whole 3 older brothers thing makes my head spin when it comes to keeping her safe from garbage on the ground.

This kid is a BRUTE! He is a very, very hard worker, and feels very responsible for taking care of the snow. He prefers to do it all himself, but with the crazy, wet, heavy snow the first half of April, he needed Mommy's assistance with the snowblower a few times. I am so, so very thankful for him!

I have had so, so, so many wonderful, caring, thoughtful surprises over the past few months. I recapped them all in a recent blog post, but what has stood out the most in recent memory are the ones that come from people I don't even know, or come from anonymous sources. I'm so thick into this insanity that I don't even recognize it as insane sometimes anymore. When I get a few minutes to really think about how drastically life has changed, it hits me over and over again. Little gestures like this make me remember that my life really is about 10,000 times more insane than I think it is anymore. It doesn't mean I'm looking at life through an altered reality, but rather that I've come to accept that it can't hit me upside the head over and over and over: I've got to adjust to MY reality for such a time as this. But these little gestures...they give me the pick-me-up that keeps me going. I know that I am being supported and lifted up by people all over the world, and it's so, so very humbling. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ to my family and I.

I had sorta given up on painting for a long while, mainly because I had been using acrylic paint, and the kids made a disaster of it. I had completely forgotten about these kinds of paints. They are so perfect for the kids at the ages they are!

Cashel is HUGE into dinosaurs right now. HUGE! Also, I love to watch him learn to write and spell.

This little lady is a force to be reckoned with. I just love her so much :)

April was a challenging month with Kinsley. It was just time to wean her, with so much going on, as well as her having teeth and biting more and all that. But...she wasn't taking bottles from me well at ALL.

All the heart eyes for this guy ;)

These two are going to definitely take care of their Mama. They couldn't wait to get out there and tackle the snow!

Somehow, towards the end of the month, I got her to stop startling when I set her in her crib for naps. Of course, I hovered like crazy, because she had never done that for me in the history of ever, and, of course, she only did it on the boppy, so I was terrified she would die from boppy suffocation or something. But it was so nice to finally be able to not worry about her rolling off the bed!

This was the only even mildly smiley picture Kinsley had in this snow. She was not a snow warrior by any means lol

Most of the rest of the time, she was about like this.

One of my very favorite parts about parenthood is watching my kids swarm around each other and get excited to take the younger ones under their wings and show them fun, exciting, cool things.

Wall framer? lol

For some reason I felt led to snap this picture one night. This was our norm for so many, many years. I miss it so dearly.

Our neighbors are seriously so sweet. All of them.

These two are going to be tight, I have a feeling lol

What can I say? The kid likes his bacon lol

Cashel is so sweet on his baby sister!

Seriously.

It's always all the books with these two. There are CONSTANTLY books ALL over the floor at our place. I could pick them up all the time, and they're back just as soon as I put them away.

Challenging the gate since April 2018. Oy!

Kendrick finished his first year of AWANA! As much as we loved it, we were so ready for the summer break! This kid needs to be asleep by 8pm, not just getting home. Oy!!

I am SO THANKFUL for this sandbox!!!

I just absolutely adore watching my babies be intense. They may be wild and crazy and loud and messy, but their profiles when they are being serious just melts my heart :)
