Random Day

I went to bed last night fully knowing that today was going to be a good day. I stayed up extra late, knowing I'd be able to sleep in as late as I wanted - and I did! I rolled out of bed around 7:30am (90 minutes later than usual), started a pot of oatmeal for breakfast, then sat and read about 200 pages of The Time Traveler's Wife.

Shortly before noon, I decided I'd better shower, which meant I needed to do my workout video before, so I got ready and started in on 20 minutes with Tony Horton. I was interrupted around 12:15 with a call from work saying, "the internet doesn't work". I have to say - I was mildly irritated that 1) when 1st shift was cancelled, people still decided to come in, and 2) that when I tried to access the applications I needed to from home, they were all down. BIG problem!

So I hurriedly put on my coat, snow pants and boots and began the arduous process of blowing out our heavily-drifted driveway in an effort to make it into work. Mark came out and assisted me, and I was on my way - first, in my Grand Prix - which was almost stuck getting out of our driveway, then turning right at the stop sign to turn onto another horribly snow-packed road - and then in the Tahoe.

I get to the plant, pull in at the receiving dock (HUGE drifts in front of any other door), and get in the door. I made my way back to my office, through the manufacturing area, and rush into the server room. Water all over the floor. Not good. Turns out the air conditioner that regulates the temperature in the room was actually blowing snow into the room and it had gotten all over the UPS power supply, which shorted out. With the help of a couple co-workers (who took care of the water situation), and some contacts at Lyndale, I was able to get the routers back up and running. But what a mess!

I've decided my boss can't go on more vacations this winter - not with a winter like this! lol Since he left on Monday, we've had 2 P3 incidents and 1 P2 incident. It is VERY rare that we get a P3 MAYBE once every 3 months. He gets back on Tuesday, none too soon!

I got back home around 3pm and had some pizza for lunch with Mark, then had a conference call for another hour. After the conference call, I took a hot bath, then finished my book while Mark went over to his Mom's to blow out her sidewalk and path to her garage.

Just finishing up supper now and looking forward to a relaxing night in with the hubs. What a random day, though!
