My boss has been gone out of the country for a couple weeks at work, so I took the opportunity to write a program that has been long overdue. It's a program that has been plaguing my mind for years, and a program that will help me immensely at my job duties.
I fully realize that for the majority of you who have no idea what computer programmers do, what a program looks like, how exactly one might "write code", what that even looks like, or why on earth anyone other than a complete geek would get excited about one, this sounds like the dumbest post ever.
However, for those of you who are programmers, you very well might be laughing at my excitement, because, well...you understand the thrill of creating something that diminishes your workload by at least a few hours per project. And for those of you who are Java programmers who have had the task of creating numerous JavaBeans for Servlets, you know how irritating the whole process is.
I created a program to do all the tedius legwork for my programs: A JavaBean that creates JavaBeans. And it.is.awesome!! Instead of typing a line of code, copying, pasting, copying, pasting, copying, pasting (you get the picture), I simply type in the name of the table to create a bean after, and then hit "create bean" and it creates the file for me.
I fully realize how amateur the whole program is, but it's going to save me a TON of time and energy with each project I tackle, and it is long overdue!
So if I've got a little extra pep in my step and you're wondering why, this is most likely why: Because I've found a way to use my programming skills for my benefit - not just the benefit of everyone else.
Now I'm off to do other equally as geeky things, or maybe to bake something...hmmmm.....
