It has been a rough week so far with Mark being in the field every evening, not so much because I can't handle being on my own with Cashel in the evenings, but more because Cashel is so used to having Mark around that he goes ballistic by the end of the evenings when he doesn't see him. He has been super clingy and emotional, which has been tough for both of us. Add in having a new, super-eager-to-learn intern at work, and some days it feels like I don't have a minute to focus.
I took the afternoon off yesterday and spent a few glorious hours just doing my own thing. I met Mark for lunch in Worthington at Arby's, then treated myself to a mani/pedi and a little shopping. (Side note: I love getting a mani/pedi, but I don't do it often, and now I remember why: It takes FOREVER! lol)
It was so wonderful to just have some time to myself where I didn't have to answer to anyone and to breathe a little bit and re-group mentally.
Before I knew it, it was time to head home to pick up the little guy from daycare, and I was SO ready to see my little buddy :)
We had our supper and then decided to make a quick trip to Hillside Greenhouse to check it out and see what they had. Cashel had a blast there, between climbing on everything, rolling around in the gravel and going on a wagon ride with his buddy, Ayla. (Ayla's Mom and I were in childbirth classes together when these two were still in utero)
We stopped on the way home for a hot fudge sundae from McDonald's, then headed home for tubby tub time. Mark surprised us by coming home from the farm early (since it started raining), and we were so thrilled to be able to see him before bed :)
After Cashel went down for the night, I finally decided to tackle the scary storage closet downstairs in one of the bedrooms, which housed all the non-utilized baby clothes and gear. I'm pleased to report it now looks wonderful, and while I'm a little sore from being down on the floor sorting baby clothes last night, I feel a huge wave of relief just knowing what we have and what we will need for this little one. (You know, garage sale season is upon us!)
The day really was wonderful, and I am thrilled to have had this afternoon of restoration :)
