Humboldt Trip for Mom's Birthday (February 22-23)

We couldn't believe it had been almost TWO months since we had been to the farm: Not since Christmas! So we were pretty excited to make the trek down through the frozen tundra on a beautiful morning to spend a couple days catching up and celebrating Mom's 67th birthday.

Simply beautiful.

The boys slept pretty much the entire trip (we had family pictures that morning), so they were happy and rested when we arrived. Grandma and Kendrick were excited to see each other, although Kendrick is fast becoming too heavy for Grandma to pick up! (We'll find out on Monday just exactly how big he is!)

I know I'm becoming one of those, "My kid is the most adorable kid on the planet" mothers, but seriously? How can you disagree?

One proud Mama here :)

It was my Mama's birthday, and doesn't she just look so lovely with the beautiful flowers she got from Dave, Elicia, Ben and Catherine? :)

What I haven't mentioned yet is that Mom also moved back to the farm this weekend. As you might recall in my January update, she had moved to an independent living apartment in town in mid-January. Well, she found herself missing home something fierce (not to mention, she was a spring chicken compared to many of the other residents), and since she was on a month-to-month lease, she just decided to move home randomly about a day before we came home. So the guys (Okay, mostly Amanda, Michael and Jason) spent a good chunk of the day on Saturday getting her moved back to the farm, and Mark helped once they got the goods back to the farm.

Of course, I was man-handling 2 kids at the time, so I didn't get any pics, but her room looks pretty much how it did before, just without much wall art currently. A HUGE thanks to the Vinsands, Jason and Mark for helping make the transition a quick, painless one for her.

The rest of the afternoon was pretty laid-back. Cashel was anxious to see his cousins, but entertained himself with the myriad toys in the playroom.

Kendrick enjoyed a little time getting to know Uncle JJ a little better.

We had a pretty rough night of sleep, what with a teething 6 month old and a crazy toddler, and it was an early morning with the boys ready to go for the day by 5:15am. I let Mark sleep in a bit longer and took the boys downstairs. It was pretty quiet for a while, but not too long before the house was bustling with little ones. Cashel just LOVED playing and snuggling with his cousins!

We celebrated Mom's 67th birthday at the farm on Sunday afternoon with cake and ice cream - SO yummy!

I think it's safe to say that the kids were excited about the cake and ice cream :)

Happy Happy Birthday, Mama! You are simply the most wonderful Mom I could have ever asked for. While the Lord has allowed this season of life to bring you down a notch or two, you always are so encouraging to others in the midst of your struggles.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Mom's birthday with her, and look forward to the next trip in mid-March for more celebrating, but this time for Caitlin (1) and Caleb (5).
